Mahobia is a branch of Banafar Rajput.The variations of
the name include Mahobiya, Mahoviya Or Mahoba.They are the Banaphar
Rajput of the Chandravanshi lineage.
DeshRaj
and VatsRaj were the famous warriors of the Mahoba. They fought many
wars with King Parmal of Chandel dynasty. After the victory over King of
Delhi, Prithvi Raj Chauhan, from whom they snatched the fort of Sirsa,
King Parmal appointed Vatsaraj as the Governor of the Sirsa and Deshraj
the Commander-in chief of Mahoba. Deshraj won many wars and expanded the kingdom in Central Indian. He was known as the "Veer(Brave)
Mahobia" in , therefore descendant of Deshraj are known as "Mahobia".
